annual meeting included:
- Report from
the Finance Committee on the change in investment tactics for
the association’s portfolio that had dropped from its high due
to the September 2008 market crash. A detailed presentation of
the new trending investment strategy that is being managed by
Roger Woodruff of Commonwealth Financial was held with an active
question and answer period.
- Report from
the Project Committee that shared the previous year’s activities
with scholarships that had been awarded to an Alfred University
student Daniel Vuono as well as University of Rolla, Science and
Technology students Josh Holzhausen and Dan Marincel. The
scholarships at both universities are the first awarded by the
Association in its three year commitment for scholarships to
both universities. Press releases from both schools are
forthcoming and it is expected that competition for the
scholarships will increase as the program becomes better
promoted. In addition, the Project Committee announced that
there was new interest from US manufacturers to consider
re-starting the internship programs that had been ongoing for
several years and that were financially supported by the
Association. The Committee also reported that its additional
funding to the University of Rolla Science and Technology
program that it had started several years ago of creating
various ceramic and glass experimentation kits that were then
shared with high school age children to interest and excite them
in a potential ceramic or glass career in United States
manufacturing was continuing. University of Rolla S & T had
advised the Association that 600 to 800 summer camp students
would be using the kits that had been developed with financing
from the Association this summer alone. And lastly, the Project
Committee announce some additional funding that had been
approved by the Board to continue the construction and marketing
efforts of the Association’s new website –
www.agpm.org that would be coordinated through the IT
department at member Fenton Glass for the next 12 months.
- The
Membership Committee announced that it reviewed several
candidates for membership but for this year, only one company
was being proposed to the organization for a new membership and
that was Yougiogheny Opalescent Glass with the representative
being Mr. John Triggs. The proposal was voted on by the full
attending membership and the organization is pleased to announce
its new member, Yougiogheny Opalescent Glass

committee meetings and included a golf outing that was held for
all who dared tackle the extremely challenging Glenmoor private
club Jack Nicklaus eighteen hole golf course. In addition,
dinners were held at a local and very popular Canton eatery –
Bender’s Tavern, as well as in a private dining room at the Glenmoor Resort itself.
